Southern Delaware Chorale to perform spring concert May 5

April 14, 2024

The Southern Delaware Chorale will present its Choral Hits Billboard concert at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 5, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach.

Under the direction of new artistic co-directors Joseph Shortall and Sarah Rose, the chorale will perform such selections as Mozart’s “Ave Verum Corpus”; “Kyrie Eleison” from Franz Joseph Haydn’s “The Lord Nelson Mass”; “O Fortuna” from the famous “Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff; and “The Storm is Passing Over” by Charles A. Tindley, which is a traditional gospel song performed with enthusiasm and joy.

Chorale members are pleased to have Shortall collaborating with Rose for this concert. Shortall comes to the chorale from Baltimore where he serves as director for the Baltimore Children’s Choir, assistant director of the Maryland State Boychoir and contemporary lead musician at Christ Lutheran Church.

Rose has been assistant director of the chorale since 2014. She has accompanied the group and is now collaborating with Shortall to co-conduct this performance.

This promises to be an exciting afternoon of listening to a variety of artistic choral selections designed for the enjoyment and entertainment of all.

Tickets are $25 at the door or online at southerndelawarechorale.org.
