Southern Delaware Tourism board installs new officers
At its July meeting, Southern Delaware Tourism’s board of directors installed Scott Anthony as chair and Fred Thompson as co-chair, each for two-year terms.
A longtime Delaware business leader and community advocate, Anthony is the owner of Coastal Marketing, doing business as Money Mailer of Delaware and Celebration Marketing. The companies are dedicated to helping local businesses grow through direct mail and strategic advertising.
He previously served as chair of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, demonstrating a longstanding commitment to fostering regional collaboration and economic growth. In his role as SDT chair, Anthony will work to strengthen local business partnerships, promote economic opportunity and support the next generation of leaders. He remains active in civic initiatives and volunteers his time to support community causes.
Thompson is general manager of the Hampton Inn Rehoboth Beach. With nearly 17 years of experience in the hospitality industry, he has managed properties from Rehoboth to Ocean City, Md.
Thompson is actively involved in the community and committed to helping develop the next generation of leaders. Whether it’s helping his wife run the family business, mentoring through life skills or coaching on the basketball court, Thompson believes in hard work and the power of positive influence. He serves on the board of the Georgetown chamber and plays a key role in organizing major local events. He also helps lead the Delaware-based Young Professionals Program and works closely with Factory Sports in Frankford to mentor young athletes. In his role at SDT, he will assist Anthony and the entire board in exploring new ideas and opportunities to enhance and promote Southern Delaware.
Scott Thomas, SDT executive director, said, “Southern Delaware Tourism is very fortunate to have such professionals serve on our board of directors. Scott and Fred care deeply about Sussex County and its tourism industry and their passion to promote our area is an asset to the organization. We are grateful for their service and excited to have them leading the board into the future.
