State Farm grants $3,500 for MHDC to help low-income families

Milford Housing Development Corporation, a nonprofit affordable housing provider, has been awarded a $3,500 grant from State Farm’s Good Neighbor Citizenship Company Grants. The funds will assist low-income families in becoming homeowners through MHDC’s Self-Help Housing Program.

David Moore, MHDC president and CEO, said, “It is critically important for MHDC to partner with local organizations like State Farm Insurance. Their commitment to affordable housing and to our mission is truly appreciated.”

In operation since 1997, MHDC is the only Delaware agency offering the Self-Help Housing Program as an alternative path to homeownership. The program utilizes a sweat equity model to homeownership for low-income families. Families average over $32,000 in sweat equity per home. More than125 families have reached their dreams of owning their own home through MHDC’s program.
