The Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park will hold its annual membership meeting Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Biden Environmental Center in the park, 37565 Dune Road, Lewes.
Doors open at 10 a.m. for coffee and doughnuts, with the meeting beginning at 10:30 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.
A highlight of the meeting will be the signing of a five-year Memorandum of Agreement between FOCHSP and the Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation by Friends President Jeff Underwood and Matthew Ritter, division director.
The MOA formally recognizes the vital role FOCHSP has played in supporting the division’s mission and the goals of Cape Henlopen State Park since 2001, and continues that cooperative relationship for another five years.
Attendees will hear a review of FOCHSP’s 2025 accomplishments, and learn about goals and initiatives planned for 2026.
A special presentation by Ian Stewart, Delaware Nature Society staff ornithologist, will cover Winter Birds of Southern Delaware. Stewart will highlight bird species that spend the winter months in the Cape Region, identify prime birding locations and offer practical tips for attracting birds to backyard habitats year-round.
Friends merchandise, including sweatshirts and hoodies, will be available, with proceeds supporting group programs and projects.
