The Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park, in partnership with Cape Henlopen State Park, the Coastal Camera Club and Nations Photo Lab, made an announcement June 22, marking the launch of the inaugural Capturing Cape Henlopen Digital Photo Contest.
Open to photographers of all experience levels, this exciting new contest invites entrants to share their unique vision of Cape Henlopen State Park. Participants can enter digital photos taken within the park in one of three categories: Park Wildlife, Scenic & Landscape, or Flora & Fauna.
Submissions will be accepted through 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, July 29. All entries must be digital photographs taken within Cape Henlopen State Park, and in compliance with Delaware State Parks rules and regulations. The contest is open to everyone, including FOCHSP and CCC members, local residents and park visitors. However, individuals directly involved in organizing or judging the contest are not eligible to participate.
Submissions will be judged, and cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winners in each category. First-place winners will receive $100, second-place winners will receive $50, and third-place winners will receive $25. Winning photos will be professionally printed by Nations Photo Lab and unveiled during a special awards ceremony in August at the Biden Environmental Center in Cape Henlopen State Park. The images will also be displayed this fall at various locations throughout Lewes.
FOCHSP members are incredibly excited about this new creative endeavor and deeply thankful for the support and collaboration of the partners whose involvement has made this contest possible. Entrants may be seasoned photographers or individuals who simply enjoy taking pictures during a walk, bike ride or beach day. All can take advantage of this chance to celebrate and showcase the beauty, wildlife and natural spirit of one of Delaware’s most beloved coastal parks.
