The business may have moved only a quarter of a mile, but there’s one big advantage for Stockley Materials’ new Route 9 location near Lewes.

Business owner Ken Adams owns the new property, said John Dorman, Stockley Materials general manager, while sitting in the landscape supply company’s new office.

Stockley Materials also has a second location in Georgetown.

Now located along Route 9, Dorman said the new site is slightly better because it’s closer to Five Points and is more visible. He said it is also slightly bigger, allowing for more material, and configured slightly different from the previous Nassau Commons Boulevard location, allowing more room for vehicles to maneuver.

John Yoho, yard manager for the Lewes location, said the landscaping company has soils, mulch, decorative pavers, irrigation supplies, lighting options and decorative stone. He said the company is also a yard waste disposal center for residential and commercial customers.

In addition to the new location, Stockley Materials is taking over First State Flag. Former First State Flag owner Robert Lawson died in March. Dorman said Adams and Lawson were cousins, and Adams wanted to keep the flag company in the family.

Yoho said the most popular flags are of the United States, Delaware and Sussex County, but the company can have anything customized. Sports teams, companies, anything, he said.

Stockley Materials, 32416 Lewes-Georgetown Highway, is open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, but hours are seasonal, so a call ahead is recommended. The phone number for Stockley Materials is 302-856-7601. For more information, go to www.stockleymaterials.com. First State Flag, also located at the new Lewes-Georgetown Highway location, can be reached at 302-854-9000 or go to www.firststateflag.com.
