Steve Grossman, assistant Rotary governor of Areas 40 and 41.Rehoboth Beach Sunrise Rotary hosted its Empty Bowls fundraiser event April 27, at St. Jude the Apostle Church near Lewes.
Participants were given a cup of soup and a piece of bread donated by SoDel Concepts restaurants to help visualize the impact of food insecurity. They were able to choose a bowl to take home as a reminder of those bowls left empty by hunger. All donations and proceeds will help local organizations fight hunger. David Rowe, president-elect of the Rehoboth Beach Sunrise Rotary, said the group hoped to raise around $8,000.
Also present was Suzie Keefer, founder of Miriam’s Table, which has a mission to feed children living in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as Steve Grossman, who was fundraising for the Sussex County Rotary Club’s Can-Do Playground.
