Sunsets live music returns to Rehoboth library June 21

June 20, 2019

As the weather warms up and the days grow longer, the nightlife of Rehoboth Beach reaches a fever pitch in the summer months. While the area’s fabulous restaurants, bars, and performance spaces are the usual go-to’s for live entertainment, one place people might be surprised to catch live music is the Rehoboth Beach Public Library.

The Rehoboth library will be bringing back its popular sunsets live music series, which features local acts performing on the library’s scenic balcony that overlooks bustling Rehoboth Avenue.

The series kicks off at 7 p.m., Friday, June 21, as alt-folk act Bryan and the Barn Owls make their triumphant return to the library to share their eclectic, down-home, outsider country sound. The band performed at the closing performance of the library’s sunset series last October, making them the perfect torchbearers to open this year’s series.

Attendees can expect free refreshments and affordable libations, generously provided by the Dogfish Head Brewery of Milton. While a $5 donation is suggested for admission, no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

The sunset live music series will continue at 7 p.m., Friday, July 19, with local favorite the Natalie Darkes Band gracing attendees with its multifarious, female-driven sound. The live music series will continue every third Friday of the month through October, with music always taking place on the library’s second-floor balcony, weather permitting.
