Thanks to Gov. John Carney for noting that, although the recent oil spill on our beaches is not the largest ever, it still points out how fragile and vulnerable our beautiful beaches are.
Then too, this illustrates what might happen if a larger oil spill from some rogue tanker were to happen. It also shows what is happening every day that we continue our addiction to oil that President George W. Bush warned us about. The result is regular air pollution which causes lung ailments, like asthma, climate change which is causing rising temperatures on land and sea, and oil spills around the world harming dolphins and other sea creatures.
As vehicles are the world’s largest users of oil, our best tool to fix this problem is electric vehicles which use no oil. And as we get more of our electricity from clean renewable solar and wind power, our vehicles will approach zero emissions. Or you can put solar on your roof and run on the sun right now, like I do. The future is bright, and electric.
Our local electric vehicle (EV) club, DE Electric Vehicle Association, DEEVA, a nonprofit group, promotes EVs with free car rides and education/advocacy for EVs. Everyone is invited to join, for free. Everyone I know who drives an electric car loves it. Low maintenance expenses and fuel that costs one-third what gasoline does, save you money.
