I live in Kent County and just got my Delmarva Power bill. Inside was a notice that my bill is going up $10 a month. Why? “The increase is due to a higher demand for energy in our region compared to the available supply.”
So it's a supply-and-demand issue. But here's what gets me: Sussex County wants to build, build, build like there's no tomorrow, which explains the demand increase. Then the exact same people cry and moan and pass resolutions to stop any project that would increase supply like the proposed wind power or solar farms because they are ugly and the citizens of Sussex should not be forced to look at them.
Now if the decisions of various Sussex County governments solely affected them and their residents, I'd have no problem, suffer your poor choices, but as I explained, these decisions are costing me money, and I don't even live in your county! They are costing every resident in the whole state! That is why the state has to step in and override your home rule. Sussex cannot be allowed to make decisions affecting the entire state.
That's my two cents (or $10) for today.
