Sussex Academy boys’ lax tops Spartans 22-2

The Lake Forest boys’ lacrosse team couldn’t find an answer for Sussex Academy March 30, as the Seahawks ran away with a a 22-2 victory. The Seahawks move to 3-0, while the Spartans are 0-1.

The Seahawks scored the first 19 goals before a Spartans player hit the back of the twine. 

Eighth-grader Braddock Smith led the Seahawks with six goals and an assist. Ryan Morgan, Anderson Smith and Brenner Short hit for three goals each. Mack Leonhartt and Gavin Robbins each scored twice. Zane Miller, Federico Zaina and Danny Hearn each scored a goal.

Seahawks assists were garnered by Morgan with four, Smith, Leonhartt and Michael Hoffert with two, and Short with one. 

The Spartans goals were scored by senior Cael Moyer unassisted.

Seahawks goalies Jackson Hagy and Mason Trench made four and three saves, respectively.

Spartans goalies Jeremiah Thompson and Ryder Skinner split 10 saves.

Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
