Sussex Academy will welcome families for back-to-school nights with activities taking place at both its elementary and secondary campuses.
These events are the optimal way for parents to get to know their child’s school and curriculum at the beginning of the year, said Head of School Kyle Bentley.
“The main purpose of back-to-school night is to establish a strong partnership between the home and the school, which is a key factor in a child’s success,” Bentley said.
Parents will have the opportunity to walk through their child’s classroom and gain insight into the learning environment, where teachers will present information about the curriculum, key topics and projects students will work on throughout the year.
Middle and high school families are invited to the secondary open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 29, with informational sessions for each student cohort.
From 5:30 to 5:45 p.m., administrators will hold a general session for all families, and at 5:50 p.m., families will be directed to their appropriate sessions with teachers and staff in the middle and high schools. Helpful information for all families will be available in the cafetorium.
The elementary back-to-school night will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, and has been designed for parents with multiple children in different grade levels. At 5:30 p.m., families will gather in the gym for a welcome message.
From 6 to 6:45 p.m., families will head to their child’s classroom for presentations from teachers. From 6:45 to 7 p.m., a second session of classroom presentations will take place, allowing families to also visit classrooms of their older children.
