Bayhealth and Delaware State University Athletics Strengthen Partnership

February 19, 2026

Bayhealth and Delaware State University (DSU) Athletics have expanded their longstanding partnership, reinforcing Bayhealth’s role as the health system partner of Hornet Athletics and deepening collaboration in support of student‑athlete health, wellness and community connection.

Bayhealth and DSU Athletics have collaborated for five years on a variety of community‑focused initiatives, including health and career engagement at football and basketball games and the “Ballin’ for Blood” drive that supported life‑saving blood donations. Bayhealth Sports Medicine Physicians Terence Tsui, DO, and George Umeh, MD, also serve as the official team doctors for the athletic department, ensuring student‑athletes receive exceptional medical guidance and care.

“Bayhealth is proud to continue our work with DSU Athletics as the Primary Hospital Provider of Hornet student-athletes,” said Bayhealth President and CEO Terry Murphy, FACHE. “These student-athletes represent the heart and dedication of this community, and it’s our privilege to support their health and well-being. Our partnership with DSU continues to grow in meaningful ways, and we look forward to building on the strength of our shared commitment to excellence.”

“We are excited to strengthen our relationship with Bayhealth, a trusted partner whose support plays a vital role in the success and care of our student-athletes,” said DSU Director of Athletics Tony Tucker. “Bayhealth’s expertise and commitment make a huge difference in our ability to provide a safe, competitive and enriching environment for our Hornets. This renewed partnership underscores the pride we share in serving our students and our community.”

Bayhealth will continue to hold naming rights at the court in Memorial Hall Gymnasium and maintain a visible presence across Hornet Athletics facilities through key branding and collaborative programming. The continued agreement ensures ongoing alignment between the two organizations in support of student-athlete health, athletic performance and community engagement.

Together, Bayhealth and Delaware State University Athletics remain dedicated to deepening community ties, strengthening student‑athlete health and championing the success of Delaware’s next generation of leaders.
