September 15, 2021

The Sussex Academy soccer squad powered to a 6-0 win over the Ravens Sept. 14 at Sussex Tech. The Seahawks move to 3-0 on the season, while the Ravens are now 0-2.

Seahawks senior Michael Daniello scored three times and had two assists in the game. Junior Justin Mendoza hit the twine twice, while freshman Andres Romero scored a goal and had two assists. Freshman Keenan Williams also had an assist.

The Seahawks outshot the Ravens 17-7 and held a 10-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Sussex Academy senior keeper Tyler Hudson stopped seven Tech shot attempts, while Tech goalie Anthony Willey made five saves.

“Overall this is a great team win,” said Sussex Academy coach RJ Dina. “Tech is historically very good, and we knew not to take them lightly. We have been working constantly on breaking lines and getting in behind. Bit of a slow start, but some halftime adjustments and we found new energy. We’ve stressed the importance of staying disciplined throughout a match and being patient. I’m proud of this group for their start to this season, but we have a long way to go before we start celebrating success.”
