The Sussex Academy girls’ swim team took the Henlopen Conference regular-season, dual-meet title with an 89-81 victory over Sussex Tech Feb. 1 at the Sussex Academy Aquatic Center. The girls are 11-0 with one match left with Milford Friday, Feb. 4. This is their sixth regular-season title.
The Sussex Tech girls move to 7-1 with two matches to go.
The Seahawks boys’ squad downed the Ravens 123-43 to move to 10-1. The Ravens fall to 2-6 with two matches left.
“You couldn’t ask for a more exciting dual meet,” said Seahawks head coach Tom Martiner. “If you’re going to figure out who is going to be the conference dual-meet champion, you couldn’t ask for a better competition. If I had any hair on my head, it would’ve turned white. Our boys had another great meet with spectacular times posted. We bounced back well after our loss to Cape. We are really looking forward to the conference meet.”
The Seahawks girls took first in the 200 medley relay, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 free relay, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke and 400 free relay. Tech took top honors in the 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle.
The Seahawks boys finished first in every event except the 200 IM, which was won by the Ravens’ Ndango Dinga.
