Sussex Consortium students utilize new movie theater

November 29, 2020

Sussex Consortium students are not wasting any time in making the most of the incredible resources their new building offers them.

Students in Becky Brosius’ class read or adapted the text of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” by Roald Dahl. The students spent eight weeks reading the book with purpose, both in person and remotely, while participating in and completing a variety of activities related to the book.

“I am so impressed with how well the students are doing wearing their masks and socially distancing. There is still so much meaningful learning taking place because of their ability to adapt to the new circumstances,” said Brosius. As a reward for all their hard work, the students were able to watch the film version of the story in the school movie theater.

Dr. Vivian Bush, Sussex Consortium principal, said, “We are ensuring that resources throughout the building are being utilized to their potential. For example, students in Mrs. Brosius’ classroom are working on making connections between literature and film. We are so fortunate to have functional and meaningful amenities at our fingertips.”

The new Sussex Consortium first opened its doors to students this September.
