Sussex County 911 Awareness Day educates students
Elementary students and other visitors learned about emergency services at the annual Sussex County 911 Awareness Day Oct. 9, at the Emergency Operations Center in Georgetown.
The fun-filled day featured safety demonstrations, tours of 911 operations, CPR lessons, K-9 demonstrations and first-hand looks at county and state command units, police cars, fire trucks.
“This year’s 911 Day was one of the most successful events we’ve had,” said Communication Specialist III Bailey Millman. “I believe that the students and chaperones learned a lot about emergency services and enjoyed their day. Thank you to all of the vendors for helping make this event so successful. We are looking forward to next year, as it is our 25th annual 911 Day. Currently, it is scheduled for Oct. 8, 2026.”
