Sussex County Land Trust hosts donor appreciation party

June 29, 2025

The Sussex County Land Trust recently hosted Trust and Toast, a donor appreciation event, at its historic Wolfe House headquarters near Rehoboth Beach.

Individuals, partners and friends who support land conservation efforts throughout the county gathered to enjoy an evening of connection, refreshments and a celebratory champagne toast along with brief remarks from SCLT leadership. Attendees were able to review highlights of recent and ongoing land preservation projects.

Represented by Mark and Estie Class, the Class family was recognized for its generous donation toward the acquisition of the Ard Na Greine property, an 88-acre site situated between New Road and the Lewes-Georgetown Trail near Lewes.

Schell Brothers was also recognized for its contributions of $1,000 for each lot sold in Sussex County over the past three years, totaling more than $1.5 million in donations to the trust for preservation efforts.

“This event is our way of expressing deep gratitude to those who make our mission possible,” said Sara Bluhm, SCLT executive director. “Your support helps preserve the natural landscapes that make Sussex County such a special place to live, work and explore.”

Ring Lardner, SCLT board chair, said, “Our donors are the backbone of this work. Because of their generosity and belief in our mission, we are able to protect the open spaces, scenic vistas and environmental treasures that define Sussex County. Their impact will be felt for generations.”
