Sussex Help ads shine light on local issue

February 24, 2026

Thank you for running the advertisement “Our Neighbors Are Hurting” from Sussex Help about the families in Sussex County who have been impacted by ICE detentions and deportations. If I had not seen the advertisement, I would not have been aware of the need for immediate and targeted assistance to families such as Julia and Pedro's. The need to draw attention to this particular issue is great because our local charities are already maxed out due to the high poverty rates in this area, but that’s another discussion.

These residents and their stories matter to us. We are not just a beach community, and the economic impact of these actions affects everyone. Our immigrant neighbors prepare our food, clean our homes, build developments, roof our houses, etc. Immigrants built the United States! What is happening to them now is cruel and inhumane – and extra-judicial: the rule of law is being blatantly ignored.

Please continue to run these advertisements with similar stories of how ICE is operating in our region and affecting families.
