Sussex Realtors seek silent auction items for Nov. 6 gala

Sussex Strong, the Sussex County Association of Realtors’ community service foundation, announced its annual fundraising gala will be held from 6 to 10 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.

Gala proceeds will help Sussex Strong continue its mission of supporting children and families in need across the county, providing essential items including school supplies, holiday gifts, new winter clothing and emergency support.

This year’s theme, Throwback Thursday: A Totally 90s Gala, promises an evening of fun, music, food and giving back. Guests will enjoy live music, silent and live auctions, themed cocktails, fare from local restaurants, and a ‘90s-inspired table decorating contest.

Sussex Strong is currently seeking donations of silent auction items from individuals and local businesses.

“The silent auction is one of the most important parts of the evening,” said Jamie Coleman, Sussex Strong president. “We’re asking our community to help us make this event a success by donating auction items of any size or type. Every contribution helps.”

Looking ahead, volunteers will be needed Monday, Dec. 2, to shop for and help assemble new clothes, shoes and a toy for each of the kids on this year’s list of families in need, compiled with input from many local organizations.

Wrapping day will be Monday, Dec. 9.
