Sussex Republicans set inaugural Freedom Festival Oct. 7-8

August 12, 2022

Sussex County Republicans are excited to announce the inaugural Freedom Festival set for Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7 and 8.

The family-friendly gathering is a celebration of America and its exceptional constitutional freedoms.

The event will kick off at 6 p.m., Friday, with a banquet at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach. The keynote speaker will be Stephen Moore, senior economic advisor to former President Donald Trump. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet John Paul Mac Isaac, the Wilmington computer repair shop owner given Hunter Biden’s damaged laptop.

Festivities continue Saturday, when the day will begin with four car rallies to Hudson Fields in Milton. The four routes come north along the coast from Ocean City, Md.; up Route 113 from Berlin, Md.; up Route 13 from Salisbury, Md.; and south down Route 1 from New Castle County. All routes will have numerous hop-on points along the way. People may register online for any of these four rallies, and a route leader will be in contact.

Once at Hudson Fields, attendees can choose to attend police K-9 demonstrations and numerous other family-friendly events from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A wide variety of craft and informational vendors will be on hand, as will several different food trucks, enough to satisfy any palate. Music will be provided by Joy Lynn, Sweetwater Band and tribute performer Mike Long.

“It’s going to be a fun-filled day,” said Marilyn Booker, chair of the Sussex County Republican Committee, which is sponsoring the event.

The Saturday event will also feature both national and locally known speakers. These include an encore performance by Stephen Moore, former Georgia Congressman Doug Collins, Lt. Col. Oliver North, Jeff Hague of Delaware State Sportsmen's Association, John Paul Mac Isaac, Nandi Randolph of the Delaware Family Policy Council, and the Rev. John Betts. Larry Mayo of the Institute on the Constitution will also take the stage, as will a number of Republicans running for state and local offices. All will offer their views and insights on the major issues confronting Americans during these turbulent times.

Festival tickets are available for $5 per person if booked online, or $10 upon entry. Banquet tickets can also be purchased for $100 per person, with VIP passes available for $150.
