Sussex Septic Services offers integrity, dependability, expertise

Friends who faced tragedies team up to start business
October 13, 2018

Tyrone Gale Jr. and Jason Guarino have partnered to start Sussex Septic Services, serving all three counties in Delaware, but not before experiencing some personal tragedy and hardship.

On June 7, 2014, Atlantic Transportation co-owner Tyrone Gale Jr. was driving comedian Tracy Morgan and others back to Morgan’s home in New Jersey following a show at Dover Downs Casino when they were struck by a Walmart tractor-trailer. The 1 a.m. crash on the New Jersey Turnpike made national headlines; it cut short the life of writer/comedian James McNair and left Gale and Morgan with serious injuries.

Following the accident, Gale’s physical injuries healed, but mental struggles led him to seek counseling and undergo specialized therapy to help him cope with the trauma of the crash.

Guarino, too, is not a stranger to life-changing events. While working on his truck, he suffered a double brain aneurysm that left him in recovery and out of work for over a year. This event had a lasting effect on him, but it also motivated Guarino to create a new path forward. Guarino graduated college with a degree focusing in heavy machinery and has  24 years of septic and underground utility experience under his belt.

About the same time, Gale was looking into options for replacing his farm septic system, so he gave his friend Guarino a call. He was immediately blown away by the wealth of knowledge Guarino brought to the table, which saved Gale a lot of money. Guarino had previously been turned down by banks in obtaining a loan to start his own business, and the favor he asked Gale would spark the beginnings for their business.

“I couldn’t have a better partner and friend in Tyrone. We push each other constantly to be the best. The chemistry that we have translates directly into our work, as we always look to conduct ourselves at the highest level of professionalism and lend our expertise to all of our customers. It is our goal to always be focused and determined to service our customers in a fast, integrity-driven and honest manner,” said Guarino.

After much hard work, Sussex Septic Services officially opened for business June 6, and both partners are excited to get a fresh start with a new company. Sussex Septic Services prides itself on educating the customer on options and providing services with no job too big or small. Not only does Sussex Septic install new systems, it is also authorized to service and inspect existing equipment. Both men also see the bigger picture on informing the customer how maintaining their systems works out for everyone in the end.

“Our ability to service current systems allows our customers to save money, so this has yielded an overwhelmingly positive response from everyone we have had the pleasure to help. When you are able to be honest and offer alternatives, you will always gain that word-of-mouth throughout the community because of the work ethic you show and the compassion you have for others,” said Gale.

Integrity, service and dependability are three words that dictate how Sussex Septic Services and how they operate their business. “With our continued growth, we strive to be able to give back to the community that was there for us during both of the tragedies we encountered. We are both so grateful for the outpouring of support we received, and we want to return that tenfold. The relationships we make with our customers and smiles that we put on their faces after completing a job make this all worth it, and we are both proud to have overcome our hurdles,” said Guarino.

Sussex Septic can be contacted for installations, service, inspections and questions regarding current or possibly new systems at 302-745-2934.
