Sussex Tech carpentry teachers receive staff award

Sussex Technical High School named carpentry teachers Gary Stewart and Bruce Hefke as co-recipients of the Staff Member of the Month Award for April 2012.
The duo was selected because of the men's efforts in guiding students in the building of a new ticket booth to be used at Killens Pond State Park in Felton.
Gary Stewart of Millsboro has been teaching carpentry at Sussex Tech since it became a full-time school in 1991. Bruce Hefke of Lewes joined him in 2000. He received his teaching credentials in industrial arts education from Central State University in Ohio.
In making the announcement, Assistant Principal Michael Firch said, “Gary and Bruce are a great teaching team who make learning fun for their students.”
