Sussex Tech High School adds EMT course
Sussex Technical High School will add an Emergency Medical Technician course to its curriculum in the 2026–2027 school year.
The decision to launch the course was driven by the high demand for certified EMT personnel throughout the state.
The course will be offered in collaboration with the Delaware Fire School providing students with access to industry-aligned curriculum and hands-on training experiences needed to meet national certification standards.
Helping address the community emergency service and labor market needs, the new course will expand elective and industry certification opportunities for students, and support and enhance Sussex Tech High School’s existing health professions and emergency response programs.
“There is a high demand for certified EMT personnel in Delaware/Sussex County,” said Dr. Jason Peel, director of human resources and support services. “Starting this course to help meet the demand supports Tech’s continued commitment to the future of our students and contributes to the growth and development of the Sussex County workforce.”
Qualified candidates for a part-time EMT Instructor position may go to sussexvt.org.
Sussex Tech is a public high school that prepares students for future success in workforce environments, higher education and the military.
