Sussex Tech showcase prepares students for upcoming competitions
Sussex Technical High School hosted a Career and Technical Student Organization showcase Jan. 17 to prepare students for upcoming SkillsUSA, Educators Rising and HOSA state and regional competitions. The event focused on career readiness, applied learning and leadership development while giving students hands-on practice aligned with competitive standards.
During the showcase, students participated in a variety of competitive practice activities and simulations, including skill run-throughs, role plays, case studies and skills stations.
The event also featured showcase and demonstration booths where students shared displays and provided explanations of their CTSO pathways.
To further emphasize career readiness, students presented projects such as professional portfolios, résumés and certification or credential showcases. Leadership and presentation-based activities were also incorporated.
Student projects and presentations were evaluated by members of Sussex Technical High School’s advisory committees, current and former teachers, and alumni.
The participating career and technical technologies programs included: Carpentry and Construction Management Technologies; CISCO/Mastery Coding Technologies; Early Childhood Teacher Academy Technologies; Electrical and Green Energy Technologies; Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technologies; Legal Support Services and Criminal Justice Technologies; Media Production Technologies; Physical Therapy and Athletic Health Care Technologies; and Welding and Fabrication Technologies.
An awards ceremony, attended by students’ families and school administrators, was held following the competition, where students received certificates and pins/medals in recognition of their achievements.
Sussex Technical High School is a public school that prepares Sussex County students for future success in workforce environments, higher education and the military.
