Taste the heat at Peppers Spicy Foods Tailgate Party

Chip Hearn, recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as owner of the largest collection of hot sauces in the world, is hosting 20 of the continent’s hottest chefs and extreme food personalities at the first Peppers at the Beach Spicy Foods Tailgate Party from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, May 15-16.

The free event will include food demonstrations and samples of cuisine from such stars as The Food Channel’s John Dilley and the creator of Defcon sauces, many of which have become collectors’ items.

Of the original Defcon sauces, DM-MK II (Death Match Mark II) is officially sold out, but those who have never sampled the rare elixir will be able to do so when Hearn cracks open a bottle of the sauce, which recently sold for $1,000, to celebrate the inaugural tailgate event and serves it with wings. Wings will also take center stage when Dilley hosts his Death Match Wing Eating Contest.

Extreme Food and After Death superstar Blair Lazar, creator of sauces so hot that he is featured in the 2007 Guinness Book of World Records for concocting the world’s hottest products, will be making a featured guest appearance at the event. Lazar will be presenting a signed 24-bottle limited edition of a sauce created to commemorate the first Peppers at the Beach Spicy Foods Tailgate Party.

The new event has attracted the Spicy RV Group that left Houston, Texas, nearly three months ago and has been stopping at famous locations along the way in places like Texas, New Mexico, Georgia and New Orleans, sampling the food and drinks and all things hot and spicy. The group’s final destination is Rehoboth Beach for Peppers’ tailgate party and a sampling of Bethany Blues BBQ.

“This is a weekend to let your hair down and just have some fun,” said Hearn. “The creators of the hottest sauces and the chefs that use them are all coming to Peppers at the beach to have a tailgate, and there will be loads of chili, wings, ribs and more for everyone to experience.”
