Teacher appreciation contest names new winner

December 6, 2025

Dr. Jonathan Johnson of Johnson Orthodontics recently surprised another deserving educator with a $200 VISA gift card through his long-running Teacher Fishbowl Contest. This month’s winner was Long Neck Elementary School second-grade teacher Melissa Quinney, who was nominated by her student Lydia Penuel at her most recent orthodontic appointment.

The fishbowl contest, which has been running consistently since 2017, invites patients to submit the name of a teacher who has made a positive impact on their lives. Each drawing is Johnson’s way of showing appreciation to educators for routinely allowing him to “borrow” their students throughout the school year for orthodontic care.

As the son of two elementary school teachers, Johnson understands firsthand the dedication, heart and countless hours that go into teaching, and he is committed to supporting local schools.

Johnson and his team love surprising teachers and look forward to announcing another winner in February, continuing a tradition that honors the important work teachers do every day.
