Thelma Louise Attix Pryor, lifelong Dover resident

Thelma Louise Attix Pryor, 91, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022. 

Mrs. Pryor was born Oct. 24, 1930, the daughter of the late Earl Short Attix and Mary Elizabeth Masten Attix. She was a lifelong resident of Dover. She was delivered at home by Dr. David Deakyne and was named Thelma after his wife and Louise after her mother's sister. 

Mrs. Pryor started working her junior year of high school at Farmers Bank of the State of Delaware in downtown Dover, and she was a 1948 graduate of Dover High School. She continued working at the bank until the birth of her first child in 1960. On Oct. 20, 1951, she married Wayne Pryor and was married for 55 years until his passing in 2006. 

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Isabel Jarman and Emily Woodall; and her brothers, William, Gilbert and Donald Attix. She is survived by her son Ricky of Dover; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Larry Williams of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Clara Gravatt and Mary Joan Pratt, both of Dover; brother, Robert Attix of Clayton; and many nieces and nephews including her namesake Thelma Gravatt Wright of Harrington. Special thanks to her caretakers, Gloria Pitts and Angela Gibson, and her sister Clara.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 14, at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover; services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. 

Donations can be made in her memory to the First State Animal Center and SPCA at 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
