Theodore C. Polite Sr., carpenter, mechanic

Mr. Theodore C. Polite Sr., 72, of Utica, N.Y., formerly of Delaware, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare, with his loving family by his side.

Theodore was born in Lewes Sept. 13, 1948, the son of Theodore and Ruth (Newcomb) Polite.  He was raised and educated in Utica, and received his education in local schools.  Theodore was a self-employed carpenter and mechanic in the Utica area and throughout other parts of the northeast.  He was an avid motorcycle and antique car and truck enthusiast, a gifted artist and enjoyed a good cup of coffee.  He found great joy in building things with wood, especially if he could share his talents with family and friends. Theodore was a true family man and people person, who received his greatest joy spending time with his beloved family and friends.

Mr. Polite is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Colette and Paul Mazzuca of Taylorsville, Ga., and Tanya Polite of Starke, Fla.; four sons and one daughter-in-law, Theodore Polite Jr. “TC” of Holland Patent, N.Y., Rocky Polite of Lewes, Richard and Nicole Polite of Milford, and Bo Polite of Millsboro; one brother, Edgar Polite of Delaware; as well as 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a sister, Edith Arcuri, and brother, Robin Polite.  

A memorial service to celebrate Theodore’s life will be held at a later date.
