There’s no place like Delaware

August 11, 2023

For many years, our family has vacationed in the Lewes/Rehoboth Beach area. Each year, we look forward to the sights and sounds of the bay, shopping at the outlets, sitting in traffic, eating at our favorite restaurants, reminiscing about good times and making new memories. When I tell others that we are going on a beach vacation, they ask, “Florida, right?” I reply, “No, Delaware!"  They shake their heads with confusion and puzzlement. They can’t place Delaware on the map, and even if they do, they can't imagine a beach, a boardwalk and a great time. Which is just fine with me; it means more space to ride my bike, stroll down Second Street, consume local ice cream, read the Cape Gazette and have a wonderfully lazy time on the porch. I've traveled all over the world, and there are few places I'd rather be than right here in Delaware. So keep it up, Delaware, I'll be seeing you soon.
