Timothy Lee Carpenter, veteran, respected dentist
Dr. Timothy Lee Carpenter, 78, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born Aug. 31, 1946, in Anderson, Ind., Tim was the beloved son of the late Dudley and Doris (Hilligos) Carpenter. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1964, earned his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1968, and later completed his doctor of dental surgery degree at University of Maryland in 1974.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Tim served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he pursued a long and respected career as a dentist with practices in Severna Park, Reisterstown, and Columbia, Md.
Tim and Karen were married Dec. 29, 1971, at Grace Methodist Church in Cambridge, Md. Together, they shared 53 wonderful years filled with devotion, laughter, and family.
Tim found joy in many things—gardening, golfing, cheering on the Baltimore Ravens, playing bridge, reading comics with his grandson, Cooper, and snuggling with the King family dog, Bella. His gentle spirit, sense of humor, and deep love for his family were ever-present.
Tim is survived by his wife, Karen Carpenter; his daughter, Katie Carpenter King, son-in-law James King, and cherished grandson Cooper King; his daughter, Meggie Carpenter Browning, son-in-law Zachary Browning, and step-grandson Jacob. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Dinah Groves and brother-in-law Terry Groves; nieces, Jessica Darrow (husband Jason and children Dylan, Logan and Nina) of northern Virginia, and Nichol Evans (husband Chris and sons Garrett, Ridge and Dryver) of Cambridge, Md.
Tim will be deeply missed and forever loved by all whose lives he touched with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love.
A memorial service to celebrate Tim’s life will be held in early summer.
