Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth celebrated its 10th annual Top Chef of the Culinary Coast event May 13, bringing together noted chefs from across the region to showcase their culinary talents.

Held at the picturesque Ivy Restaurant in Dewey Beach, the event featured a friendly competition among renowned local chefs, each aiming to impress attendees with innovative dishes, and an auction. The competition served a dual purpose, according to Kathy Keuski, executive director of Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth, delighting food enthusiasts with gourmet offerings and raising vital funds to support Meals on Wheels' mission of delivering nutritious meals to homebound seniors.

The evening was a resounding success, drawing a large crowd of food lovers and philanthropists alike. Guests enjoyed a diverse array of dishes, ranging from classic seafood to decadent desserts, while mingling with the chefs and learning about their culinary inspirations.

Chef Richard Steele of Café Azafran took home the top honor with his crab cakes, earning praise for his impeccable technique and vibrant flavors. Lewes Oyster House took second place, Northeast Seafood Kitchen took third place and Hopkins Farm took Best Dessert.

Proceeds from the event will directly benefit Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth, helping to ensure that the organization can continue to provide essential meal services to elderly individuals who may otherwise struggle with food insecurity. The support garnered from this event highlights the community's commitment to caring for its vulnerable members, underscoring the powerful role that food and hospitality play in fostering a compassionate and connected society.
