Touring Spain with the Cape Gazette

December 15, 2017

Mike and Chris Kelly of Lewes toured Madrid, Toledo, Seville, Granada, Valencia and Barcelona while visiting Spain in November. One of the highlights of their trip was visiting Plaza de España in Seville, which is considered the Venice of Spain. A canal encircles the façade that is crossed by four bridges representing the four ancient kingdoms of Spain. The building and plaza (of Renaissance/Moorish architecture) was built for the Ibero-American Exhibition of 1929. The purpose of the exposition was to improve relations between Spain and the countries in attendance, all of which have historical ties with Spain through colonization or political union.

The trip to Spain was a memorable one for the Kellys, being near the canal and reading the Gazette almost made them feel right at home. The only problem was that there was no place to grab the latest edition of the Cape Gazette.
