Pack 95 Cub Scouts take part in Sussex District Chariot Race

December 4, 2022

On an unseasonably warm and beautiful day Nov. 5, the Redden State Forest picnic area was swarming with Cub Scouts from all over the county who came to participate in the Sussex District Chariot Race.

Pack 95 was there with both of its chariots and lots of eager, energetic Cub Scouts ready to compete.

The competing groups consisted of Lions and Tigers, kindergarteners and first-graders; Wolves and Bears; second- and third-graders; and Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts, fourth- and fifth-graders. There were six stations: throw a ball in a net, toss a hula hoop over a stack of buckets, hammer a nail into a log, jump through six tires, do jumping jacks, and finally, walk on the balance beam. These were easy for some and a challenge for others.

Pack 95 winners were Tigers who took first place, and Wolves and Bears, who both took third place in their categories. The winners received a small chariot trophy to display at their pack meetings. Each participant received a 2022 patch.

Pack 95 organizers thank all the parents who showed up with their sons, and Tom and Trevor Rathfon who set up the obstacle stations. Thanks also go to the Boy Scouts and leader from Troop 95 and Troop 1 scouts who helped man the stations, and to all who helped to take down the stations and load them on the trailer.
