Troop 95 hits the slopes
A group of 15 scouts and four leaders from Scout Troop 95 in Georgetown loaded their gear early Feb. 5 on a Jor-Lin motor coach bus and headed north to Shawnee Mountain in Pennsylvania.
Once there, lift tickets were handed out; rental skis, boots and helmets were picked up; and the skiers hit the slopes. New skiers headed to their afternoon lessons. Everyone wore their masks and socially distanced in the lodge and even in the lift lines.
It was a beautiful weekend with great weather. Lots of fresh snow lay on top of the packed powder base. Everyone enjoyed skiing in great company.
At the end of the day, everyone got back on the bus and headed 20 minutes north to the Pocono Environmental Education Center. Scouts unloaded personal gear from the bus and settled into the dorm for the night.
After eating breakfast at the dining hall, everyone enjoyed another day and a gorgeous evening of skiing. Sunday morning, the scouts and leaders packed up, ate breakfast and headed home.
