Fishing is a popular pastime on the Broadkill River in Milton, but the Milton Police Department ended up with the unusual task of fishing out some different game April 30 – a pickup truck.
Chief Derrick Harvey said at 10:26 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a motor vehicle accident in the Magnolia Street parking lot. While it is not clear how the truck ended up in the river, Harvey said when officers arrived, it was determined that one individual was involved in the incident. He said prior to the arrival of first responders, a bystander in the area made contact with the driver and assisted in safely removing the individual from the vehicle through the driver’s side window onto the roof of the vehicle.
Harvey said no injuries were reported and the vehicle was towed without further incident.
