Wellness Balance and Wellness Wahine, owned and founded by Kimberly Distilli and Jessica Sander Peden, respectively, will host an open house from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 31, at their new location, 1200 Savannah Road, Lewes.

Distilli, RN, BSN, CLT and CHC, has spent three decades in the medical field and founded Wellness Balance seven years ago. “I spent my life taking care of others,” she said. “But it wasn’t until I became seriously ill with breast cancer that I discovered the impact of non-invasive integrative therapies.”

Searching for more natural ways to promote healing and manage pain, Distilli discovered the impact of therapies such as cold laser, ionic cellular cleansing detox protocols, Alkaline pH water, essential oils, CBD products and targeted supplements.

“I’m a nurse,” Distilli said. “I explore matters for helping the body without the use of pharmaceuticals. I focus on sleep and relaxation, as well as the use of food as medicine. I want to teach people to change their relationship with food.”

Sander Peden, founder of Wellness Wahine and doctor of physical therapy, graduated from the University of Delaware doctorate of physical therapy program in 2005 and has 14 years’ experience as a physical therapist. “Wahine is the Hawaiian term for woman,” she said. “I used to live in Hawaii and was practicing physical therapy in Maui.”

She has completed a 54-hour functional dry needling training via Kinetacore and is proud to be one of seven U.S. physical therapists trained in the Italian Raggi Method. She is also skilled in Myofascial Decompression, the cup therapy made popular during the Olympics, and different forms of yoga, including prenatal yoga.

“I don’t do mainstream physical therapy,” Sander Peden said. “The way I do it consists of only me and the client. It lets me see the big picture, to get to the cause of the issue.”

The two practitioners met five years ago and moved into their current office in February. “We met through a client,” Distilli said. “After that, we started seeing each other as clients on a regular basis.”

“It’s been a long time coming for both of us,” Sander Peden said.

At the open house, the two practitioners will demonstrate their different methods for those in attendance. For more information, call 302-853-0663.
