Two documentaries to open at Cinema Art Theater Oct. 16
The Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “Harry Chapin: When in Doubt, Do Something,” a moving documentary that focuses on the extraordinary life of a legendary musician and humanitarian.
Perhaps best-known for “Cat’s in the Cradle,” Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and activist Harry Chapin sold over 16 million albums. Before his tragic passing, he spent his fame and fortune chasing a dream to end world hunger and poverty. The film includes a stellar list of fellow singer/songwriters such as Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Pete Seeger, Kenny Rogers and many more who intimately reflect on Chapin’s larger-than-life impact.
Screening times are 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 16; 3 and 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 17; 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 18; 2 and 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21; and 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 22.
The film society also will screen “She is the Ocean,” an in-depth documentary that explores the lives of extraordinary women who define the courage and spirituality it takes to lead a life at sea.
This film follows nine women, ranging in age from 12 to 85, scattered around the globe. Their work spans from surfing to marine biology to platform diving to paramedic service and more. Although their professions may vary, they are united by the same sea, and their love for these waters is matched only by their dedication to preserve and protect them. A journey of both natural beauty and human empathy, it is the story of powerful women with depths unknown.
Screening times are 4 and 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16 and 17; 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 18 and Wednesday, Oct. 21; and 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 22.
Admission is $8 for members and $11 for nonmembers. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online at rehobothfilm.com. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
