United Way of Delaware kicks off Do More 24 campaign
The United Way of Delaware kicked off its Do More 24 campaign March 24 at Delaware Hospice in Milford. United Way of Delaware, in partnership with Delaware Community Foundation, Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement, AFP-Brandywine Chapter, and Delaware Grantmakers Association introduces Delaware’s first community day of giving campaign - Do More 24. Close to 100 agencies and community partners gathered to hear firsthand the community giving campaign that will impact the nonprofit sector in Delaware.
Do More 24 is a cash campaign that will begin at 12:01 a.m., Thursday, June 2, and end at 11:59 p.m. Every 501c3 nonprofit organization in Delaware is eligible to participate. Nonprofits will register their organization to be listed on the Do More 24 Delaware site. On June 2, community members will funnel their dollars to organizations that support causes they care about the most.
UWD is hosting Do More 24 Delaware along with its partners to provide a solution to rapid changes in the philanthropic landscape. The changes are that resources to support community-based organizations are not able to match the increase in the needs of the community. Do More 24 is an innovative solution to engage individuals to make a difference by giving where they are passionate.
“We have an incredible opportunity to come together, united, to infuse a level of hope and optimism into our great state,” said Michelle Taylor, president and CEO of UWD. “We appreciate all of the support that local nonprofits have received. However, we know that collectively we will have to create opportunities to engage individuals to give to sustain our community-based organizations.”
UWD and its partners would like to see over 300 nonprofits benefit from Do More 24. “I attended this kickoff event because First State is excited about participating in DoMore24DE,” said Kaniesha Trott, public relations specialist for First State Community Action Agency. “I believe it will greatly benefit caregiving organizations like First State and other nonprofits who are working tirelessly to build strong, more vibrant, and healthy communities. Having the support of our community makes what we do for the community possible.”
