UPDATE: Man shot at Slaughter Beach party

June 13, 2025

A Dover man was shot while attending a party June 12 at Slaughter Beach.

The shooting occurred at a pavilion behind the Slaughter Beach Memorial Volunteer Fire Co. where a party was being held. Police said a Dover man, 32, was at the party when three masked suspects arrived and began firing multiple rounds at the attendees. The man tried to flee, police said, but was struck in a lower extremity. The suspects fled the area before police arrived.

On June 26, Delaware State Police identified two of the suspects: Tyree Johnson, 19, of Harrington, and Tymere Harmon, 22, of Dover.

Detectives determined that the suspects fled in a light-colored Honda Accord with Delaware registration, and identified Johnson, and Harmon were 2 of the suspects involved in the shooting. On June 20, Harmon was pulled over for a traffic stop in the Accord and was taken into custody without incident. On June 25, Johnson was found in Harrington with a black satchel across his upper body. When police tried to contact him, Johnson fled behind an apartment complex. Johnson was eventually arrested and police found a Glock 17 pistol, an extended magazine and ammunition in his bag.

Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance for any information that may lead their on-going efforts to identify the remaining suspects responsible for the shooting. The unknown suspects are described as wearing all black clothing and black ski masks. Surveillance video and images are not yet available. The victim was taken to a hospital and later released.

Johnson was charged with felony first-degree assault, 10 counts of possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, nine counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, two counts carrying a concealed firearm, second-degree conspiracy and other misdemeanor charges. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $598,000 cash bond.

Harmon was charged with first-degree assault, 10 counts of first degree reckless endangerment and second-degree conspiracy.
