Vice president for human resources appointed at Delaware Tech

Delaware Technical Community College’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved Dr. Valencia “Lynn” Beaty as vice president for human resources, effective July 1. Beaty currently serves as the director of human resources at the Stanton and George Campuses, a position she has held since November 2014. She also serves as the CCollege’s assistant vice president for Civil Rights/Title IX coordinator.

Beaty has worked as a public servant for over 20 years. A total of 15 years of her public service was with the State of Delaware, where she worked in the Department of Finance and Department of Health and Social Services. Prior to her appointment at Delaware Tech, Beaty was the chief human resources officer for New Castle County. She also worked in the private sector for 15 years in various accounting, procurement/control and managerial positions, all with increasing levels of responsibility.

Beaty’s professional associations and community service include being an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Wilmington Alumnae Chapter, where she served as a past chapter president. She is also a past board member of Marshallton United Methodist School, and has served on the board of the Special Olympics of Delaware, as well as Delta Outreach and Education Center Inc.

Beaty holds a bachelor of arts degree in accounting from Wofford College, a master’s in business administration from the University of South Carolina, and a juris doctor from Widener University School of Law. She is a member in good standing of the Delaware Bar.
