Vineyards in Lewes breaks ground for new retail businesses

June 13, 2023

Fernmoor Homes, a family-owned building company providing luxury homes, apartments and commercial properties across Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, recently broke ground for several upcoming commercial spaces opening at the Vineyards in Lewes.

These new commercial properties will add several retail establishments to a bustling mixed-use community with around 450 residential units and several existing commercial businesses already in operation.

“Vineyards is a great addition to a rising community here in Lewes,” said Tony Senn, property manager at Bar-SGR, the Vineyards property owners. “With the help of mixed-use developments like the Vineyards, we have added new businesses and year-round residents that have established us as a rapidly developing area.”

These new commercial buildings add 13,777 square feet of retail space toward the expected total of approximately 112,000 square feet of commercial capacity. Sussex County residents will now have access to several new businesses offering food, health, personal and financial services, among others. New businesses include Del-One Federal Credit Union, Tran Nail Salon, Upstream Rehabilitation, Tea Aki and Diamond Kingz.

“Building an office in a thriving area like this inside of an impressive mixed-use complex filled with both potential consumers and member businesses that we can attract supports our current expansion plans,” said Ron Baron, Del-One president and CEO.

Jie Lin, owner of Tea Aki, said, “I’m excited to launch my new bubble tea business in an area that is growing rapidly and on such a beautiful property.”

The Vineyards is conveniently located within a few miles of the Delaware beaches and just a 5-minute drive from the Lewes-Georgetown nature trail.

“Our area has struggled with traffic and congestion on Route 1,” said Ann Bailey, associate broker at NAI Emory Hill. “This new construction will provide Sussex County residents with easy access to needed resources without having to navigate that traffic on a daily basis.”

Jeffrey Fernbach, president of Fernmoor Homes, said, “These commercial spaces add valuable businesses to a community that already boasts hundreds of residential properties. Businesses looking to find a home in the area can work with a fast-growing residential property, and residents looking to move here can now access many helpful resources while avoiding the summer traffic down the shore. Mixed-use properties are the way of the future, and we are proud to develop such a strong community here at Vineyards.”

Tenants of the commercial spaces from this groundbreaking are expected to be able to move in and launch their businesses by the end of 2023. Vineyards continues to add new residential and commercial properties. For more information, go to vineyards-lewes.com.
