Vintage popcorn machine now on display at Georgetown museum

May 17, 2025

The Historic Georgetown Association train station museum announced its most recent acquisition is a Manley popcorn machine manufactured in 1948, recently donated by Georgetown Fire Company.

Originally purchased for use at the Ayers Theatre until it closed in 1964, the machine was moved  to the concession stand for Georgetown Little League. Until a few years ago, it was used for the annual oyster eat at Georgetown Fire Company Station 77.

When the historic association received the machine, it was not in working order and needed restoration. Bud and Debbie Littleton took on the project and delivered the restored machine to HGA March 22.

This artifact of local history is now on display in the train station museum at 140 Layton St., Georgetown.
