Volunteers assisting Delaware Native Plant Society got their hands dirty Nov. 9 to help renovate the native plant garden at the University of Delaware College of Earth, Ocean and Environment campus in Lewes. The collaborative effort between the society and the university has included renovation and improvement of the southern portion of the garden next to the college with additional plants, removal of nonnative species and installation of a crushed-stone pathway. At the Nov. 9 workday, volunteers prepared the ground and sowed 15 varieties of native plant seeds. The area is designed to become of the largest pollinator gardens in Delaware, covering nearly 4,000 square feet.
