The Delaware Watercolor Society will celebrate its 15th year with an open house art show and sale from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, May 17, at the Glade Clubhouse in Rehoboth.
The nonprofit watercolor society began in 2004 with a handful of artists who came together to initiate its mission of promoting and encouraging mutually shared interests in watercolor media among its members and the public. Most of the original founding members are still active painters and DWS members.
Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artists and enjoy some light refreshments. There is no admission fee, but DWS accepts small donations to help offset outreach costs.
The society works toward fostering high-quality, professional art and creative contributions to the Delaware community through education events, exhibits and other activities. Today, the society continues to focus on exploring, creating and sharing the wonders of watercolor with new, emerging and professional artists from Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
DWS provides opportunities for education, group activities, mentoring, outreach programs and artist development through individual and group critiques and fine art exhibitions.
The Glade Clubhouse is at 16 Glade Farm Drive, Rehoboth Beach. For more information, go to www.delawarewatercolorsociety.org.
