Wax carved rings class registration due March 12

March 6, 2022

Heidi Lowe Gallery will offer a wax carved rings class in four sessions set for 5:30 to 8 p.m., Tuesdays, March 15 and 22, and April 12 and 19.

Participants will learn how to carve a ring band and a sculptural ring out of wax in this four-session class. Lowe will teach students the fundamentals of wax carving, the subtractive and additive techniques, sizing and preparing wax models for casting. She will send the wax models to the caster, have them cast in silver and then walk students step by step through the cleaning process, from removing the sprue to a polished finish.

“Wax carving is a different way of working to make jewelry. It is a very useful skillset for beginner students and professional jewelers alike,” said Lowe.

Registration closes Saturday, March 12. No experience is necessary; attendees must be at least 14 years old. The materials fee is included in the class price, except for the silver cost for the castings, which will vary based on each student’s design. Cost including materials is $450.

Heidi Lowe Gallery is open for shopping by appointment, curbside pickup, and for private and group classes at 17522 Ward Ave., Lewes.
