Weldon M. Swartzlander, kind, generous soul

Weldon “Unk” M. Swartzlander, 93, a beloved resident of Lewes, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Monday, June 2, 2025. He was born in Flatrock, Ohio.

Unk lived a life filled with kindness, dedication, and love for family. Unk was a maintenance man at Terumo Medical Corporation in Elkton, Md., and worked at Yellowstone National Park. He enjoyed playing pool, traveling, horse racing, and spending time with loved ones. He had a sweet tooth. Dunkin Donuts, cookies, and Ice cream were his favorites. His warm smile, sparkling personality, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Unk is survived by his loving wife, Lucille Swartzlander; his children, Marvin Reed, Debra Swartzlander and Lorie Lagola (Michael Lagola); his grandchild, Bree Dempsey (Christopher Dempsey); and his great-grandchildren, Avaline and Carson Dempsey.

A memorial service will be held with visitation from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, at Mary Mother of Peace, 30839 Mount Joy Road, Millsboro, with the service beginning at noon.
