Wescoat Scholarship applications due April 15

February 11, 2020

Members of the Cape Henlopen High School graduating class of 2020 and former graduates who wish to be considered for financial aid from the Wescoat Scholarship Fund are invited to secure application forms from the Cape Henlopen High School guidance office.

The will of the late Louise Wescoat l’Hommedieu of Lewes states that the committee to administer the fund will include the rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Lewes; the superintendent of schools of the local district; and the mayor of Lewes.

This will be the 43rd year that the fund will benefit college-bound students from Cape Henlopen High School. The awards are available to worthy and needy graduates of the high school, but not necessarily to those who have attained the highest scholastic ratings. Those who can benefit are individuals who plan to attend accredited colleges or universities in the United States.

Completed application forms should be mailed to the Wescoat Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 464, Lewes, DE 19958. This year’s application deadline is 12 p.m., Wednesday, April 15.

To date, the committee has provided 243 scholarships, each in the amount of at least $200. The number and amount of the scholarships are dependent upon the cash balance in the fund.
