Whayland Co. voted Best Commercial Builder in Southern Delaware
The Laurel-based Whayland Co. has been chosen by readers of Metropolitan Magazine as the top commercial builder in southern Delaware for 2015.
The award, part of the Salisbury, Md., publication’s 21st annual Best Of competition, was announced in the edition that hit area newsstands in early September. The contest is held each year and is voted on by the local community for several months leading up to the announcement of the yearly winners.
Whayland was named the best among several entries in the Commercial Building category.
“We are obviously very pleased and honored that Metropolitan’s readers chose us for this honor,” says Steve Hentschel, owner and president of the Whayland Co. “We always make a diligent and concerted effort to insert ourselves into the fabric of any community that we serve, and we work very hard to provide quality services to all of our valued clients. We’ve worked for many years at establishing our hard-earned reputation here on Delmarva, and we take protecting that reputation very seriously.”
Each year since 1994, Metropolitan Magazine has asked its readers to vote for the Best Of winners in many categories, ranging from restaurants and bars to salons, automotive dealerships, grocery stores, appliance centers and many more. All winners are then invited to a preplanned celebration, with proceeds benefiting a worthy local charity.
In addition to being voted the best commercial builder in southern Delaware for 2015, the Whayland Co., also received runner-up status as the best commercial builder on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, due to its longtime presence in that state.
For more than six decades, the Whayland Co. has been offering its services on the Delmarva Peninsula, starting in Salisbury before moving to Delmar and eventually to Laurel just a few years ago.
In addition to commercial construction and management services, Whayland also offers a wide range of other services, including project consulting, permit acquisition, land and/or building acquisition, design services and assistance with financing.
Earlier this year, the company celebrated 65 years of commitment to its clients in Sussex County and neighboring counties in Maryland.
“I think the fact that we’ve been around for so long and that we have so many loyal and longtime customers is the greatest testament to our success and the one that means to most to me personally,” says Hentschel. “In this day and age of increased competition, particularly in the commercial building sector, the fact that we’ve survived and thrived for so many years tells me that we’re doing something right.
“But it’s nice to hear every now and then from others that these opinions are not unfounded. So we thank all of the readers of Metropolitan Magazine, and the publication itself, for this prestigious honor.”
