What happens when a West Coast vibe meets East Coast chill? Plenty of fun and lots of great music at Delmarva's Big Chill Beach Club, the brand-new oceanfront venue now enjoying its first summer season just south of Dewey Beach.
"It may be September, but it's an endless summer here at Big Chill," says managing partner Josh Grapski. The fall schedule is happening at both of his popular gathering spots, Big Chill Beach Club in Bethany Beach, and the year-round locals' favorite, Big Chill Surf Cantina in Rehoboth Beach.
Wheeland Brothers Live will take center stage Sunday, Sept. 17, at the Big Chill Beach Event Tent with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay. "We like to call our music beach rock reggae," says Travis Wheeland. "If you love the beach, you'll love our sound!"
"They'll be right at home with us here at Big Chill Beach Club. These guys are two Southern California brothers who grew up in Orange County surfing, scarfing down hole-in-the-wall Mexican tacos and jamming around beach bonfires," said Grapski.
Wheeland Brothers Nate "Frogg" and Travis began their musical journey in 2010 while backpacking in Hawaii where they were inspired to create their first album, "Toast to the Coast." Their buddies Marcus Agundes and Eric Bumb have since pooled their musical talents, building a reputation for lively stage shows keeping audiences stoked all over California. Their first single, "Sand in My Sheets," was nominated for Best Music Video for Orange County's coveted Music Awards. More hits followed, including "Muchos Mahalos" and "Lovin On Time."
"This will be their final East Coast gig for this year," said Grapski. "And Big Chill Beach Club is the perfect place to showcase their incredible sound." He said guests can make it a night with a casual dinner and drinks with friends in the Umbrella Bar before the show.
Big Chill Beach Club is at the foot of the Indian River Inlet suspension bridge in Delaware Seashore State Park. For more information, go to www.bigchillbeachclub.com.
